Fall-season youth sports equipment swap

From Saturday July 11 through Friday July 17 the Wilbraham Public Library is accepting donations of youth sports equipment for the following Fall-season sports: football, soccer, field hockey, volleyball, tennis, swimming, ice hockey, and cheerleading.

Items should be gently used, clean, in good condition, and should comply with current sports equipment standards.

Examples of items the library will accept:

football: balls, cleats (please label with sport and size), gloves, compression shirts, pants in good condition, unused mouthguards still in the package, unused eye black still in the package;
soccer: balls, cleats (please label with sport and size), bungee ball net kickers, small practice cones, goalie gloves, pop-up goals (must be collapsed and secured);
field hockey: sticks, balls, shin guards, gloves, field hockey shoes, safety glasses/goggles, goal-keeper equipment, unused mouthguards still in the package;
tennis: racquets, racquet bags, racquet string, balls, shoes (please label with sport & size);
volleyball: balls, spike challengers, blocking pads, shoes (please label with sport & size);
swimming: practice and team suits, goggles, swim caps, swim parkas, gear bags;
ice-hockey: helmets, neck guards, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, hockey pants, shin guards, skates (labeled with size), sticks, unused mouthguards still in the package
cheerleading: shoes, apparel, hair bows, gear bags

We cannot accept: jockstraps, cups, used mouth-guards, padding or shin-guards with staining or odors, anything visibly dirty, anything stained with mold or mildew, anything damp, any equipment for sports not listed above (check back this Fall for the date for the Winter equipment swap), large or non-collapsible goals, nets, or rebounders.

Saturday, July 18, from 10AM until 12PM parents and guardians of youth athletes are invited to shop the donations – this event is free! Wilbraham Parks & Rec will be on hand to answer questions about registration and gear!

***The Wilbraham Public Library is hosting this exchange as a service to the community and does not make any claims or guarantees as to the condition of the equipment made available. Patrons are responsible for ensuring that equipment received during the event meets current safety standards and is fit for use by their athlete.***

At the end of the event, any remaining equipment will be donated or otherwise disposed of by library staff.
