Paul Revere. His name evokes images of the famous “Midnight Ride” of April 18-19, 1775. But there was so much more to the man than his famous ride.
He was a Master Goldsmith, specializing in working with silver. He cut copper plates depicting famous events on the eve of the American Revolution. He was a dentist! He was a Son of Liberty and a Freemason. He was a Lt. Colonel in the Massachusetts Militia during the war, though his service was fraught with disappointments.
After the war, he helped gather support for ratification of the U.S. Constitution in Boston and became one of America’s first industrialists by casting bells, cannon, and rolling copper at his mills in Boston and Canton, Massachusetts. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband and father.
Hear his story as told by historical interpreter, Michael Lepage, culminating with that night in April when he spread the alarm “to every Middlesex village and farm” that the regulars were coming out!”
Registration program is appreciated for planning purposes, but seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
Sponsored by the Wilbraham Friends of the Library.
Michael Lepage has been a historical interpreter and reenactor since 1993. He has performed at Adams National Historical Park, the Paul Revere House, the John. F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, and many other historical sites and venues.
History has been his passion since he was in grade school during the Bicentennial. He graduated from Duxbury High School in Massaschusetts in 1984, then the University of Maine with a B.A. in History in 1989.
